James earned a JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2009 before practicing business litigation for several years at the largest Louisville firm. He has also launched multiple local businesses in various sectors and continues to manage a thoroughbred racing syndicate.
Since switching his focus to finance, James has become a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder. James’ primary interest is in equity analysis, where his legal background, as well as hands-on business experience, supplement his financial credentials to provide a holistic outlook to evaluating businesses.
James has a very deliberate approach to financial analysis, doing all his own research, however time-consuming. He attributes his patient approach to his youth as a nationally ranked chess player, often competing in six-hour long games. He has continued chess as a hobby, recently achieving a sectional win in the 2016 US Open.
